TREATMENT FOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENT

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a widely used and powerful method of treating anxiety symptoms related to trauma and significant life upset. This treatment is helpful for both adults and children. There are over 70,000 professionals trained in EMDR, and here at Innovative Child and Family Psychotherapy and Counseling Associates we have therapists who keep up on the state of the art in this therapeutic technique. EMDR is the most researched therapeutic modality in the United States and it is recognized by the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association and is an approved treatment for trauma by the United States Army, as well as other military forces throughout the world.

Of all the therapies used at Innovative Child and Family Psychotherapy and Counseling Associates EMDR and related techniques seem to get the most quick and dramatic results. This isn’t to say that it works with everyone and that it is a “magic cure” because it’s not. However, we use it often because it works so well!

EMDR With Children

In combination with Child Centered Play Therapy and Filial Therapy we have found the EMDR and related therapies have excellent result when treating:
  • School related phobias and anxieties
  • Fears, nightmares and inability to sleep in their own bed
  • Being bullied and picked on
  • Sexual and physical abuse
  • Trauma related to accidents and injuries
  • Trauma related to family discord including divorce
  • EMDR With Adults

  • Trauma related to accidents and injuries
  • Upsetting past experiences that continue to interfere with your life
  • Rape and abuse
  • Military related trauma
  • Our treatment is Outcome Oriented and measurable. That means clear goals are set and both you and the therapist are able to see how the goals are being met.

If circumstances are such that additional treatment modalities are indicated we discuss them with you ahead of time, because your child is unique and this is not a “one size fits all” technique.
