PROFESSIONAL TRAININGFilial Therapy is a highly effective method of treating families with young children (ages 2 through 12). Child and family problems are addressed by training and supervising parents to do client-centered play therapy with their own children. It can be offered to families utilizing a group format whereby 5 to 6 parents learn and practice the play therapy skills by alternating the involvement of the child(ren) from each family on a week to week basis or to individual families that prefer their own private sessions with the therapist. Filial Therapy is a very robust method of treatment and has over forty years of research to prove the positive and long lasting results with children and families. It has been successful with many types of child and family problems including: Limited to 8 participants. First day of training is devoted to learning and practicing client-centered play therapy principles and skills. Next two days are centered around learning and practicing the art and skills of being a qualified Filial Therapist. CEUs are available for psychologists, social workers, and marriage and family counselors.
